Kinesiology
Kinesiology is based on the science of human movement to perform its functions. It is a health discipline that relies on the practice of physical activity to promote overall health. In other words, kinesiology can be used, in part, to rehabilitate from a physical injury, a chronic medical condition, or a mental health condition, but also to prevent injuries and maintain abilities. It uses physical activity to promote a healthy life balance. Kinesiology can also be used for physical performance purposes for an athlete. However, the services offered by BECA Health aim to help people adopt healthy lifestyle habits that will promote the maintenance of the overall balance (physical and psychological) that an individual needs to function well.

Initial Evaluation
A comprehensive evaluation including an assessment of your health, general functional abilities, as well as the evaluation of your needs and goals will be carried out to ensure personalized care. Adapted physical tests will also be conducted to build a customized exercise plan. This meeting lasts 90 minutes.
Fitness plan
A personalized exercise plan tailored to your needs and goals is produced following the initial assessment. We take the time to explain and demonstrate each exercise in your plan. You then try each of them, and we correct your execution technique to avoid injuries in your autonomous practice. This meeting lasts 60 minutes.
Follow-ups
We will accompany you in your return to health by adapting your care plan according to your progress. We will be with you at every step of the process until we achieve improvements that meet your expectations. These meetings are available for 45 or 60 minutes, depending on your needs.
What is the difference between a kinesiologist and a personal trainer?
A kinesiologist is a healthcare professional specialized in prescribing physical activity. Trained to assess functional abilities and design exercise programs for therapeutic or rehabilitation purposes, their role goes far beyond fitness training. They take into account your overall health condition, limitations, and clinical goals. A personal trainer, on the other hand, works primarily from a physical performance perspective and may not necessarily have clinical training.
Can kinesiology really help with mental health (anxiety, depression, burnout)?
Yes, and the scientific evidence is clear on this. Regular and structured physical activity has recognized effects on reducing anxiety, stabilizing mood, improving sleep, and enhancing cognitive functions such as concentration and memory. It can also significantly reduce the risk of depression.
At BECA Santé, exercise is not a generic prescription—it is a therapeutic tool that is measured, progressive, and integrated into a clinical care plan. Our kinesiologist works collaboratively with the occupational therapist to provide comprehensive support for individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
Who is kinesiology at BECA Santé for?
Our kinesiology services are intended for people who want to improve their overall health, but also for those living with a chronic condition, a mental health issue, an injury, or who are going through a work rehabilitation process. We are not a gym: our approach is clinical, individualized, and adapted to your reality.
Our services are available in Mascouche and throughout the Lanaudière, Lower Laurentians, and Laval regions.
Do I need to already be in shape to start?
Not at all. Our services are specifically designed for people who are not able to start on their own or who need guidance adapted to their current condition. Whether you have been sedentary for a long time, are on leave from work, or are dealing with a health condition, we start from where you are now. The initial assessment allows us to create a program that matches your reality, not an ideal.
Is kinesiology offered by videoconference?
Yes. Many kinesiology follow-ups can be done by videoconference, particularly for reviewing exercise plans, adjusting programs, and providing motivational support. Videoconferencing allows for regular clinical guidance, even at a distance, and is especially well suited for individuals whose mobility or life circumstances make it beneficial.
What does kinesiology follow-up at BECA Santé look like?
Each follow-up is an individualized session. Your kinesiologist observes your execution, assesses your condition that day, and adjusts your program accordingly. They answer your questions, support your progress, and document the evolution of your condition over time. The goal is not to create dependency on follow-up sessions, but to guide you toward increasing autonomy at a pace that suits you.
How does kinesiology care at BECA Santé work?
Care begins with an initial assessment of approximately 90 minutes. It includes a complete health review covering the core pillars of health (sleep, stress, and energy), an evaluation of the psychosocial context to better understand your reality and create a realistic plan, as well as physical tests adapted to your condition.
Following this appointment, a personalized exercise plan is developed and presented to you during a second dedicated session. Each exercise is demonstrated and practiced with you to ensure safe execution.
Afterward, regular follow-ups, at a frequency determined according to your reality, allow adjustments to your program based on your progress, condition, and goals. The pace naturally evolves toward greater autonomy over time.
Our kinesiology services are offered at our Mascouche clinic, by videoconference, or in some cases at home on Montreal’s North Shore.
